Arts therapy with Niki

I provide creative arts therapy services to adults, young people and kids as part of Rainbow Muse Collective. I am professionally registered with allied health member organisation ANZACATA.

My main zone of focus is body awareness, physical engagement and sensation alongside trauma, sensory/motor processing differences, chronic stress and/or disability.

I am able to support processes around making sense of clinical identifications outside of the medical/diagnostic context (e.g. after receiving a diagnosis). I can partner with you in developing non-pathologising strategies to support functional changes you may be seeking.

I also help people work through existential concerns/conflicts (e.g. reality, consciousness, meaning, death and dying, altered states).

How I work

Although I often work with visual imagery and materials, my training is specialised in dance movement therapy. Please know that there is no expectation that you will perform dances. I am more interested in what moves you, and the moving parts in your world.

I apply a relational neurobiological framework, which highlights the role of the body as we interactively move around in the world and connect with others.

To put it another way, my approach is based on the understanding that the mind lives in the body, where it exchanges information with the wider world through inputs and outputs.

This perspective can be helpful in making sense of the (often mystifying) experience of being a human. It can be worked with in creative, experiential and psychoeducational ways, depending on what’s needed. Read more here.
